Freelance Robotics RBP profile

Freelance Robotics is an established engineering firm relocating to the Redlands Business Park in early 2021. Their work brings together industrial and R&D knowledge, specialising in the development of prototypes from the idea stage through to market-ready products. As projects are based on customer need, Freelance Robotics have a variety of projects underway – from a coffee serving barista robot, through to roof construction drones, to agricultural robots that check plant needs whilst eradicating pests and weeds down the plough line.

Smart Cities technology is also a key part of Freelance Robotics’ capabilities snapshot. Moving into the twenty first century, our communities now generate digital data. Insights gained from that data can be used to manage assets, resources, and services to improve operations across the smart city. Examples include monitoring and management of traffic and transportation systems, utilities, water supply networks, waste, crime detection, schools, libraries, and hospitals. Freelance Robotics were international 2020 GO SMART award finalists with SmartGEN, a renewables powered public electric vehicle and device charging station / micro grid. Freelance Robotics also deployed the AIMSCLOUD pit and pipe survey system with infrastructure consultants Forcecor. AIMSCLOUD includes the AUSCRAWLER, SIMPOLE camera, a roughometer, and smart GPS solution and is operational across Moreton Bay Regional Council.  Closer to home here in Redlands Shire, Freelance Robotics is looking to develop our local supply chain with the delivery of a smart bin that automatically sorts through the trash. The smart bin sorts recyclables, has automated compacting to save space and reduce waste outside of bins, is renewables powered with advertising panels, and offers the benefit of being COVID-safe with reduced handling thanks to a sensor network alerting maintenance staff when the bin requires emptying.

Smart transformation is also innovating our local manufacturers. The World Economic Forum recognised Queensland as a global Advanced Manufacturing Hub in early 2020.  Freelance Robotics is a proven operator in advanced manufacturing factory automation with the Industrial Robotics division. Their engineering and integrator team design and build custom machinery, plus software and hardware for collaborative robots. Freelance Robotics work with the best in the business, e.g. OMRON, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA, Universal Robots and Festo, to deliver advanced manufacturing plant that ensures customers deliver in full and on time. Robotic welding cells are a particularly hot item.  It is no surprise, given the improvements in factory safety and efficiency, the Industrial Robotics division is busy heading into 2021.  If you are looking to take on board the federal government’s Modern Manufacturing Strategy or R&D Tax Inentive and invest in your business, now is the time to schedule upcoming works.
